What to Expect

A run through of what you can expect when booking your ski nanny with

Little Peaks Childcare

Ski Nannying

We have both previously completed seasons ski nannying together, working for ABSki in Tignes, and can't wait to bring a specialised ski nannying service to Val Thorens from Winter 2024/25.

Ski nannying allows us to combine our passion for childcare with the opportunity to explore the ski resort with your little ones.

When booking with Little Peaks Childcare you can expect to have an unforgettable ski holiday where your children are provided with the utmost care, and exciting, fun-filled days while you can relax and enjoy your time on the mountains.

Here is a guide of what to expect from the very beginning of your booking with us.

Booking information

After we receive an initial booking enquiry from you, we will aim to accommodate your chosen dates and times for your booking requests. Once dates have been confirmed and the deposit has been made to secure the booking, we will email you the child information form that needs to be completed as soon as possible in order to allocate the best-suited nanny for your child(ren) ahead of the commencement of the booking. This allows the nanny to prepare for the week, be made aware of any specific needs or requirements and plan various activities based on the information you have provided.

Before your arrival to resort

Once families have booked with us and we have received the completed family information form, we are able to allocate your nanny to your booking. Your nanny will then contact you via WhatsApp no later than 24 hours before your booking commences in resort. They will introduce themselves and ask for any relevant information that they may need upon arrival on the first day (such as final address confirmation, access codes for accommodation, etc.).
In the meantime, feel free to check out our nanny profiles on our website!

In resort

Our days usually start and end at your accommodation. Your allocated nanny will meet you at your accommodation at the beginning of the first day just before the start time, to allow time to complete a handover with you - to finalise routines, timings, and any other important information. Your nanny can begin the day here where they can get to know both the children and parents/caregivers so that they have all the information they need and are ready to start their day!

We work out of wherever you are staying, so there is no need to try and find another location in resort.
Your accommodation will be used as a base for the nanny and your child(ren) during the day, where they can go back for lunch, nap times, or if they just need to chill out for a bit!

Each day your nanny will plan activities to suit the interests of the children in their care, Your nanny will bring a toy kit and some arts and crafts along with them. We also endeavour to spend as much time as possible out exploring the resort, where there are plenty of activities for children to partake in, such as:
Snow park
Sledding
Igloos
Gondola rides
Swimming
Soft play
Snow tubing
Huskies

Your nanny will only ever be a text away and you will be provided with regular updates (with pictures if you’d like!) throughout the day, so you can be reassured your child(ren) are having fun making some great memories.

At the end of the day our nannies can either meet you at your accommodation or an alternative location in resort if you are still out - please just let us know in plenty of time to meet you there!

Ski school pick up/ drop off

If your child(ren) is in ski school your nanny can pick them up and/or drop them off, depending on the hours you have booked with us, so no need for you to miss out on any ski time.
It is recommended that the parents/caregivers are there on the first day of ski school, especially if this is the first time everyone is meeting one another and therefore the handover can take place there if required.

Daily Routine

We do our best to maintain the routine your child is used to, following the information you provide in the family information form. This is particularly the case for children who still nap as we aim to ensure their sleep schedule remains as consistent as possible.
It’s really helpful for us if you are able to provide a rough outline of your child*(ren)’s routine in the family information form, so that we can plan activities in advance.

Activities: We try to plan our weeks in advance, though we are of course reliant on the unpredictable weather. We do however aim to spend as much time as possible out exploring all that Val Thorens has to offer, including the activities listed above. A lot of the activities are free to partake in, however some require payment.
Float Money: We advise an optional float is provided to your nanny at the beginning of the booking, that can then be used to pay for any activities your child may wish to partake in (of course with your consent), as well as any snacks/ lunch (plus important hot chocolate treats!) as necessary throughout the week - prices of the activities can be provided upon request, receipts and any change will be returned at the end of the week.
Lunch: Your nanny is happy to make some lunch at your accommodation with groceries already available, or groceries purchased by the nanny with float money. Alternatively your nanny can use float money provided to take your child(ren) out for lunch to a cafe/restaurant in resort. Your nanny is also able to bring your child(ren) to meet you at any restaurant accessible by pedestrians if you would like your children to join you for lunch.
For bookings that cover mealtimes it is expected that you will provide food/ sufficient float money for your nanny to also have lunch with your children.

Packing List

Below are the main essentials that you should ensure to pack for your chil(ren):

  • Baby carrier - if you use one at home it is a great idea to bring a baby carrier along with you as they are often easier to get around resort efficiently

  • Travel system - a suitable travel buggy for getting around in the snow

  • Thermal layers and snow suits - please ensure that you bring suitable, waterproof layers for your child(ren) - plenty of base layers, a waterproof jacket and salopettes or a snowsuit, hat, scarf, and gloves to ensure your child is fully equipped for the snow.

  • Suitable footwear - please bring appropriate, waterproof footwear so your children can comfortably play in the snow and get the most out of resort.

  • Sunglasses and SPF - the sun reflects off the snow making it extremely bright so sunglasses are required for all ages, as well as SPF to protect your child(ren)’s skin while outside.

  • Swimwear - a lot of the accommodation options in resort have a pool and there is also a public swimming pool in resort, and swimming is a very popular activity amongst the children that visit resort, so please make sure to pack swimwear so that your nanny is able to take your child swimming (as long as you are comfortable with them doing so).

  • Water bottle - please ensure to pack a water bottle so that your child can stay hydrated when running around resort and playing in the snow!

  • Snacks - of course snacks can also be purchased in resort, but it is always a good idea to have plenty of snacks on hand to keep up the energy for lots of snow play!
